The burnt gneiss and pottery sherds originating from the Tsukizaki site,Which is located in Ube city,Yamaguchi prefecture,have been dated by quartz inclusion technique in which the dose-rates were estimated by a TL dosimeter(CaSO4:Tm). The results of TL dating for 5 burnt stones from the site were from 4895 to 4340 years B.P.,and the results for 2 Sobata pattern pottery sherds ftom the culture layer which contained the burnt stones were 4590 and 4870 years B.P. The results of the burnt stones and pottery sherds were in agreement each other within the limits of error.It is shown by the above facts that burnt gneiss sample is as useful as pottery one for TL dating. In comparison with the radiocarbon date,these TL dates were about 1O percent smaller than radiocarbon date of a Sobata pattern pottery from Sobata Site. |
