Non-destructive analyses of jasper fragments from Tataki Zuka site（Tottori prefecture）was carried out using energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer．The analytical results were compared with those of 50 jaspers collected from Tamatsukuri（Shimane prefecture）. Two samples from Tataki Zuka are the mixtures of brown and green parts．5 fragments of jaspers from Tamatsukuri have different constituents from other Tamatsukuri's samples．Nevertheless the brown part of Tataki Zuka's sample shows the same analytical result as one of 5 fragments from Tamatsukuri，analytical values of green parts of them are similar tothose of the major pieces from Tamatsukuri．As a conclusion the jaspers excavated from Tataki Zuka are considered to be brought from Tamatsukuri． The present result suggests that x-ray fluorescent analysis data are not necessarily competent for characterizing the sources of jasper implements． |
