内容記述 The subjects of this study are divided into two as follows : 1. perceptions about principal's leadership image between principal and teachers in the same school - case studies, 2. open description - principal's and teacher's consciousness concerning principal's leadership. The questionnaire examined here was composed of 32 items as the previous related study (Bolman, Lee G. 1991.) on principal's leadership image, 6 additional items for the school innovative climate, open description and demographic data. Investigations were conducted into one Junior High School (A school) and four Elementary Schools (B-E Schools). A remarkable difference is observed especially in A Junior High School and B Elementary Schools. The main results are as follows. (1) A low grade leadership image for the principal might lead to produce an inclination of weak innovative climate in such schools. And a higher leadership image for the principal might produce an inclination toward improving the innovative climate in such schools. (2) In general, less average scores concerning leadership image and school climate in the order of principal, male and female teachers were revealed. (3) Most principals in Japan are using one leadership frame (31 principals or 47%). Moreover, among four frames, the human resource frame is used absolutely well (16 principals or 52%). (4) The conditions of leadership which teachers desire of the principal, based on open description, are summarized in one phrase, that is "the leadership of better understanding and attaching more importance to position of school's teaching personnel." In review of many individual descriptions presented, main key-words on the leadership of principals constitute a frame for human resource. The teachers' side placed more importance upon the human resource frame as principal's leadership than principals themselves.
