| 内容記述 | This paper performs a historical inquiry on women and education in regions of modern Japan, using Mie Prefecture as an example. It investigates to clarify the founding, philosophies and educational contents of Mie Prefecture Women' s Normal School (school to develop teachers) and Prefectural Women' s High School, looking at the female teachers who worked there. This was investigated in prior research in Japanese women' s history and regional education history. In women' s history, gender history in recent years clarified the actual situations of social, economic, and cultural gender disparities and discrimination towards women. In particular, though one can say that various aspects of relationships with men such as family, labor, and social position were clarified, it is difficult to say that studies sufficiently clarified the field of history of modern Japan' s middle school education, which had a separate male and female educational system such as women teachers, normal schools, and women' s schools. Regional education history has only recently begun to clarify issues of modern primary education in some primary school systemization processes, such as roles of regional cooperative organizations, popular consciousness, and formation in recent times of regional intellectual networks revolving around scholarship and education. This paper' s premise is modern Japan' s so-called gender history of the establishment of social inequalities for women, with unequal women' s development, social structure, and social norms. Using Mie prefecture as an example, this paper covers the history of establishment of women' s normal schools and women' s high schools and development of women teachers, clarifying their overcoming of inequalities and developing their indispensable main roles in women' s social development as working people, that is to say teachers as workers comprising normal education and development of women' s school education. | |||||||
