内容記述 Recently, the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports, and Culture published the view of Japanese education in the 21st century, which was deliberated by the Central Council for Education. In this educational program, the environment education was further promoted at the schools. So, we paid attention to the importance of the enviromllent education at the schools. The awareness about the environment education of teachers at the junior high school was investigated. The results were summed up as the following six points. 1 ) Teachers took interest in the environment education, and most of them practically developed the environment education in the industnal arts and homemaking class. 2) Wood working area, which should be studied by all students, showed the highest development rate for the environment education among the six studying areas: wood working, metal working, electricity, machine, cultivation, and information basis. 3) The environment problems that were taught in the industrial arts and homemakmg class were Tropical tree-felling, Reusing wood and Utilizing thinned wood, Recycle, Saving energy and Saving resources in order of the answer number to questionnaire. 4 ) The environment problems that were closely related to technology education were Recycle, Reusing wood and Utilizing thinned wood, Tropical tree-felling, Saving energy and Saving resources in order of the answer number to questionnaire. 5 ) The reasons that the environment education was not developed in the industrial arts and homemaking class were for no time of teaching, no teaching materials and tools, and so on. 6 ) The teaching materials that were necessary to teach the environment education were Data collections and Video tape recorders. In this paper, it was concluded that many industrial arts teachers took interest in the environment education and they wanted to obtain the teaching materials and tools on the environment education, and studying the environment problems was most effective for students in wood working area because many of the items in connection with wood were utilized in the industrial arts and homemakmg class.
