| 内容記述 | The present study investigated the effects of semantic constraints of antonymity-association on memory. In Experiment 1 involving an incidental memory paradigm, subjects were asked to generate an adjective which was one of the associates of each target followed by a free recall test. The recall performance of targets which elicited antonym-associates was no better than that of those which another type of associates did. Whereas in Expeiment 2 involving intentional memory paradigm, the former was better than the latter. According to the CASA (constraints on area of spreading activation) hypothesis, the result obtained in Experiment 2 indicated that the pairing of a target and its antonym induced a stronger constraints on the area of spreading activation than that of it and its another type of associate. The incensistency between Experiment 1 and 2 was interpreted as showing that the subjects in intentional memory situation constrainted the area of spreading-activation spontaneously. | |||||||
