| 内容記述 | The present study was carried out to compare the development of memory activities (retrieval failure, confidence in memory ability, the use of internal memory strategy, and the use of external memory strategy) between Japanese and Chinese children. Subjects were fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders. A scale on memory activities was provided by translating the Japanese version by Toyota (1993). This memory activities scale consisted of 28 items with 2-point rating scale. The main findings were as follows: ( 1 ) Japanese children failed to retrieve more often than Chinese children. ( 2 ) Chinese children were likely to be more confident in memory ability than Japanese children. ( 3 ) Chinese children used the internal memory strategy more often than Japanese children. (4 ) Japanese children used the external memory strategy more often than Chinese children. | |||||||||
