In recent years, sexuality education seems to be a more important problem in special school education. This report is to clarify the actual conditions of sexuality education in special schools for students with mental retardation. The answers to the question about enforcement of sexuality education shows that over half of the special schools have put into practice some sexuality education. Especially, the enforcement ratio of sexuality education grows over 70 per cent at the higher secondary departments. This growth of enforcement ratio likes to be dependent on the age of students. The age' means not only biological sense like sexual growth, but also social sense like graduation. The results of our investigation shows that the contents of the sexuality education increases as the department goes high. Teachers who teach sexuality education vary. The largest group of them are classroom teachers, and health care teachers follow. Specialists of sexuality education are few in number. Most of the teachers who teach sexuality education feel some results or other. They also feel some difficulties to enforce sexuality education. The most popular difficulties are a) some problems about the system of sexuality education, b) the lack of information about sexuality education for students with mental retardation. The enforcement ratio of sexuality education is expected to grow further. The information about sexuality education should be gathered and made accessible. |
