| 内容記述 | The purpose of this experiment was to examine whether the buildup of proactive interference (Pi) was the results of failure to generate discriminated items by using retrieval cue or difficulty to discriminate between present trial and previous trial items in retrieval phase. A 3 × 4 factorial design was used, which incorporated retrieval cue conditions (discriminative cue, item cue, control) and number of trials (from 1 to 4). The subjects were 36 students with a mean age of 19 yr. and 7 mo. who were given to four Brown-Peterson trials, each of which had three subcategorical items. A third of subjects were presented discriminative cue (subcategory name) during retrieval phase in each of 2nd to 4th trial (discriminative cue condition), another third were presented immediate previous triad during retrieval phase in each of 2nd to 4th trial (item cue condition), and last third were not presented any cue during retrieval phase in each trial (control condition). The main results were as follows : on the performance of Brown-Peterson recall test (see Fig. 1), under the discriminative cue condition, PI was not built up as a function of trials, and the performances of recall were at a high level and kept constant. But under the item cue condition and control condition, PI was built up as a function of trials and the performances of both conditions were about the same. These results suggested that buildup of PI might be interpreted in terms of failure to generate discriminated correct items by using retrieval cues rather than difficulty to discriminate between present trial and previous trial items. | |||||||
