| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of carbohydrate loading and caffeine injection on endurance exercise in male ICR mice. To determine shifts in substrate utilization, blood glucose, plasma free fatty acid and glycogen level in muscle and liver were measured. The animals were divided into four groups. Control (C) group was provided with control mixed diet for 7 days and was exercised everyday. Carbohydrate loading (CHO) group was provided with low-carbohydrate diet for 3 days and high-carbohydrate diet for 4 days and was exercised everyday. Caffeine (CAF) group was provided with the same diet as CHO group and was exercised everyday. Caffeine (0.06mg/ml H2O) was injected intraperitoneally on the final day. Exercise consisted of 60 minute treadmill running at 70 to 75% V02max. Plasma free fatty acid was significantly higher (P<0.001) in CAF group compared with CHO group after exercise. Glycogen content in liver was significantly higher (P<0.05) in CHO group than in C group after exercise. Glycogen content in liver was significantly higher (P<0.001) in CAF group than in CHO group after exercise. Glycogen content in gastrocnemius muscle was significantly higher (P<0.05) in CHO group than in C group after exercise. These results suggest that on endurance exercise, an elevation in plasma free fatty acid by caffeine injection is associated with a sparing of muscle and liver glycogen. | |||||||||
