内容記述 Various ways of educational care for the handicapped children must be sought by grasping the meaning or background of their behaviours in their developmental process. This study is one of a series of studies attempting to clarify the problems of developmental process and to seek for the appropriate educational care in a mentally retarded child by hypoglycemy originated in pancreatic islet cell tumor. The subject was 7 years old mentally retarded boy enrolled in class for handicapped children at elementary school. He was diagnosed as pancreatic islet cell tumor in early infantile period. He has strong hypoglycemic symptons such as disturbance of consciousness, convulsions, feeding disorders and vomiting. We have been trained this boy since 3 years 5 months old in our class of remedial education for preschool handicapped children. In the previous research, we analyzed the problems of his developmental features and changes in relation to the critical period in the process of development. In analyzing his developmental process for three years, three stages were divided from the viewpoint of the qualitative changes of his developmental process. And we discussed his developmental problems at various developmental stages in relation to his disease. He has difficulties in acquiring the perceptual-motor tasks or the space-cognition abilities and the manual operations such as copying figures and block-designs. His one more problem is the feeding disorders such as chewing and swallowing. In the present study, we attempted to practise the remedial educational programs for overcoming his perceptual-motor disabilities and feeding disorders. Further work with this boy need to be done in order to seek for the appropriate educational care which help him to overcome the next developmental stage.
