| 内容記述 | The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of semantic constraints of sentence contexts on incedental memory of subject-generated words. The experiment involved orienting task in incidental memory paradigms. Fifty-eight subjects were asked to generate the target word which would fit into sentence frame followed by an unexpected free recall test. Two-types of sentence frame were used: Constrained and Non-constrained. Few targets words fitted into each Constrained sentence, but many ones did into each Non-constanned one. The main result showed that Non-constrained sentence frames led to a better recall than Constrained ones. The above result was inconsistent with the prior study (Toyota, 1984) which showed the effects of semantic constrains (Constrained > Non-constrained) on recall of experimenter-provided target words. This inconsistency was discussed in terms of the difference between the types of elaboration which occurred to subject-generated and experimenter-provided target words. | |||||||
