The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of the simplification of the ALT-PE observation system, which was developed by Siedentop, D. et al. Recognized to be an effective instrument for analyzing the student behaviors in physical education class and improving the teaching skills of teacher or student teacher, the ALT-PE system has some problems, for examples, to need many observers and times and to be difficult in getting data. We were trying to find the way to simplify ALT-PE system by making comparison between data through the standardized system and them through the simplified (less observers and longer intervals). 79 elementary school physical education classes and 40 secondary school physical education classes were used as the data in this study, which were recorded by ourselves from 1986 to 1987. Mdn results were as follows. 1 ) The reliable data are attained through the simplified system, especially in the case that many physical education classes are observed and their mean is used as material. In the simplified system, 3 objects by one observer (9 objects by 3 observers in the standard) and 48 second duration of interval (12 second in it) are avaiable. 2 ) It is impossible, however, to use this longer interval in secandary school, especially if trying to get the information on a instruction just implicated, because the variations in student learning behaviors and learning succsesses were recognized in each physical education class. |
