However, demand for chasen is falling because of a decline in the number of participants in tea ceremonies and lifestyle changes. Moreover, on a national scale, the aging of traditional craftsmen and lack of successors in the industry have created a serious problem, and there is a need to reconsider relations of producers with administrative bodies and local residents. Accordingly, this study considered the current state of Takayama Chasen production and its prospects for the future on the basis of an examination of the situation regarding chasen producers and the relations among its stakeholders, including administrative bodies. A survey was conducted, revealing various challenges such as the need for new initiatives for maintaining and promoting traditions, including dissemination of product information by emphasizing its casual aspects and collaborations with administrative bodies and Takayama Chasen Producer’s Cooperative. The survey results also identified issues such as soaring material costs resulting from the destruction of bamboo forests and the need to strengthen relations with Nara Prefecture. In the future, it will be important to expand the relations among those involved in the Takayama Chasen industry.}, pages = {77--89}, title = {奈良県生駒市高山町における茶筌製造業の現状と展望}, volume = {67}, year = {2018} }
