Cultural and Social Science","bibliographic_titleLang":"en"}]}]},"item_3_description_4":{"attribute_name":"抄録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"This paper aims to explain the changes of distribution of large-scale retail stores and small retail establishments by zone, and assess the vitalization in city center and the reg-ulation of city planning in the City of Nara. Large-retail stores have increased in the residential districts, and decreased commercial districts and the city center. In commercial districts and the city center, the number of small retail outlets have less decreased than that in the overall City of Nara. The city planning of the City of Nara has not prevented large-retail stores located in suburban residential areas. In contrast, retail stores have relatively more concentrated in the city center and other existing shopping streets. The assessment report by the City of Nara said the vitalization of Nara city center has not succeeded because retail turnover of the city center has decreased. But the city center of City of Nara has not relatively declined in terms of the number of retail outlets. It needs to select more appropriate indices than retail turnover for evaluating revitalization of the city center.
