| 内容記述 | A questionnaire survey was administered to university students of early childhood education majors (N =13) to determine whether undergoing a teaching practice would change their attitudes toward insects (e.g., likes and dislikes). The students were also asked to perform role-playing simulations to see how they would interact with children who play with three different insect species (ants, stinkbugs, and worms). The speech content used in verbal communication with children was compared before and after the practice. Although the results of the survey showed that pre- and post-practice negative attitudes towards insects did not change significantly, the students after practice gained a greater awareness and knowledge of insects’ existence, and they were more willing to accept that insects can be touched. Moreover, the results of speech analysis showed that after practice, students’ verbal expressions of sympathy toward children’s feelings increased. Even if students disliked insects, they strove to be sympathetic and gain an understanding of the children’s feelings. In conclusion, the survey’s results pointed out the importance of ongoing efforts to mitigate negative attitudes of early childhood educators toward insects. |
