| 内容記述 | In the course of a survey of cultural properties at Myōhō-ji Temple in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture, conducted by Nara University of Education last year, it was discovered that a standing statue of Fudō-Myōō owned by the temple is an important example of a statue from the Kamakura period (the late 13th century) that retains all of its original surface finishing, including colors and cut gold patterns. In this report, We outlined the statue and compared it with relevant references and similar examples, focusing on its shape and colored patterns. We also discussed its place in the history of Buddhist sculpture. As a result, it was found that the statue’s shape is similar to those of the Nara Busshi school, and its colored patterns may be closely related to those of the Nanto E-busshi. The statue found in this research is an excellent example of a standing statue of Fudō-Myōō left in Nanto that should be paid attention to in the future. |
