内容記述 International research on the role of teacher educators and the required competencies has been conducted at the beginning of 2000. In Japan, since the establishment of the Graduate School of Teacher Education in 2008, there have been questions about what teachers expect from them and issues that have arisen in the actual operation of teacher education. This study is concerned with the professional growth and professional learning of practitioner faculties who have retired from schools and boards of education and are now involved in teacher education at universities. The purpose of this study is to clarify what kind of professional growth support programs are required for teacher educators with teaching and administrative experience to be involved in graduate students’ research activities and consultation with school research activities and to polish their ability to do so until their retirement as university faculty members. The research
methods included a review of relevant domestic studies and interviews with Dutch and Norwegian initiatives that are internationally ahead of their counterparts. We also obtained evaluation comments from pioneers of teacher–education support in the Netherlands and Norway on the self-assessment rubric for the support program under consideration in this research project. As a result, it is clear that there are indicators that enable self-assessment of one’s own educational activities, which are used to support professional growth in the Netherlands. On the other hand, Norway has supported professional development by providing a doctoral degree program to practitioner faculties working at universities. The following are comments on the evaluation of this project for practitioner faculties who have retired from school and other jobs and are now engaged in teacher education at universities, even if they do not have a master’s or doctoral degree as in Japan. The proposed rubric could be meaningful. It would be effective to encourage opportunities to co-author papers and publish books with research faculty members to promote professional growth.
