| 内容記述 | This paper reports the field occurrences of the Kuchiwabuka pyroclastic dike in Susami, Wakayama Prefecture, and discusses an inferred emplacement process. This dike is one of the Kareki-nada arcuate dike,and they occur intermittently along the southwestern coast of Kii Peninsula, where the large caldera-forming volcanism occurred during the middle Miocene period. Here we described two lithofacies based on the field observations: the Facies A is volcanic to tuffaceous breccia including blocky lithic fragments derived from host sedimentary rock, while the Facies B is of coarse crystal tuff divided into two parts B-L and B-P, both showing well-developed lamination, based on pumice content. Irregular-shaped rhyolitic enclave is included into some of pumice in B-P, strongly suggesting underlying felsic magma body. Based on these field observations we inferred that the Kuchiwabuka pyroclastic dike was emplaced as follows: the pyroclasts derived from the felsic magma chamber were intruded into consolidated host rock in association with fracturing and fragmentation, after that, the finer pyroclasts with broken phenocrysts and pumices and then those with more pumices including fluidal magma were intruded into semi-consolidated pyroclasts intruded before. | |||||||||
