| 内容記述 | This paper examines policy measures implemented for children with progressive muscular dystrophy from the late 1960s through the 1970s, with particular attention to the establishment of muscular dystrophy wards in national sanatoria. It traces these developments while focusing on the Kansai region, where in-hospital classes were introduced for children with muscular dystrophy. In particular, the study elucidates the process by which specialized classes for muscular dystrophy were established within the in-hospital educational programs of Kyoto Municipal Omuro Elementary School and Narabigaoka Junior High School, following the inauguration of the muscular dystrophy ward at the National Sanatorium Utano Hospital. Furthermore, it explores the conditions of disability, mental development, and psychological characteristics of the students enrolled in these in-hospital and muscular dystrophy-specific classes at Utano Hospital. The findings indicate that the intellectual development of children with congenital muscular dystrophy—who are typically classified as having severe disabilities— necessitated the establishment of special education classes within the in-hospital schooling system. Additionally, intelligence testing revealed developmental challenges in abstract thinking among students with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. | |||||||||||
