| 内容記述 | The purpose of this short paper is to provide identifying information about the tunes included in Ponapean hymnals of the 19th century that are located at the University of Hawaii Hamilton Library. The listing of these tunes is important in supporting the following hypothesis about the spread of music in Asia and the Pacific. The modern music of Pacific-basin countries, especially Hawaii, Micronesia, China, Japan and Korea, is all based consistently upon hymns that were introduced by the Protestant missionaries. Thus, the modern music histories of these countries are not independent of each other, but rather form a history as a whole. | |||||||
