Felsic pyroclastic (tuffite) dikes in Nakaoku area, central Kii peninsula, include basaltic to rhyolitic fragments in composition. Those fragments are irregular or amoeboid in shape, indicating that all the fragments are juvenile. This paper presents macroscopic and microscopic descriptions and bulk chemical compositions of the fragments, implying the close relationship between mafic and felsic magmas in time and space during the middle Miocene in Nakaoku. |
