| 内容記述 | I have already discussed the outline of my hypothetical theory named Oval Theory in my recent paper inculded in "Japanese and Japanese Culture", Osaka University of Foreign Studies, March, 1990, by referring to general relationship of language and culture with the environment. Peoples on earth have been developing their own languages and cultures under different environments, when each natural circumstance, I showed, must have played one of important roles on the creation of their own patterns of life and speech. This paper focuses on three basic points necessary for my further comparative discussion on Japanese way of thinking, which I termed oval way of thinking, with other cultures under the different environment from Japanese one. In such a sence, this paper is a new aspect of my above-mentioned theory, and a step to the subject expouned in my succeeding papers. The relationship between this paper and the previous one may be regarded, as it were, as 'Foundation of Oval Theory' and 'Introduction of Oval Theory'. By dividing the paper into four sections, each named I. Grammar and Culture, II. Field, III. Self and IV. Relation, the author tried to disclose its contents. He also hopes that the theory itself will be critisized by many readers. | |||||||
