| 内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to stress the need of improving the students' listening ability which is the basis of all the four linguistic skills, innovating classroom procedures with emphasis upon aural-oral work. We conclude, however, that in order to achieve effective teaching in Japan the present system of college entrance examinations as well as teacher training system should be drastically reformed, if English is to be taught and learned as a means of inter-personal and international communication. It is a must for listening comprehension and/or dictation to be included in college entrance examination, since the contents of college entrance examinations acutely and extensively entail amazing effects upon the direction of English language education in junior and senior high schools in Japan. In this paper assessment and evaluation are given about some of the findings of the listening comprehension tests that have been administered in our university since 1979, when nation-wide unified tests for national and municipal colleges were initiated as preliminary examinations for college entrance. | |||||||||
