Cu nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) has been investigated by means of the spinecho method on an antiferromagnetic CuCl22H2O single crystal at 1.5-2.5 K. From numerical analysis of the three quadrupole-split transitions observed in zero external field the hyperfine field and the quadrupole-coupling constant for the Cu nuclei were obtained to be HN=108.2 kOe and eqQ/2I(2I-1) =13.45 (68Cu), 12.45 (65Cu) MHz, respectively. The Cu NMR frequencies have changed drastically in the external field applied along the easy direction at the spin-flopping transition (Hc=6.6 kOe at 1.5 K). The NMR results have been reasonably interpreted by the four-sublattice model proposed by Moriya. The canting angle of the antiferromagnetic sublattices has been determined to be ±7° from the a-axis in the ac-plane. |
