内容記述 Many petite mutants of spontaneous origin have been isolated from two strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae carrying four mitochondrially inherited resistance (chloramphenicol-, erythromycin-, oligomycin- and antimycin A-resistance) markers. The petite mutants and their subclone lineages were examined for the degrees of suppressiveness and of the retention or loss of the mitochondrial markers. In either case of primary mutants or of their subclones, the petites retaining any marker tended to represent intermediate degrees of suppressiveness, while both neutral petites and petites with high degrees of suppressiveness tended to lose all of the mitochondrial markers. From the analyses of the subclone lineages, it was clarified that the petites retaining any mitochondrial marker and/or representing intermediate degrees of suppressiveness continuously produced the progeny of various types concerning the suppressiveness and the retention of the mitochondrial markers, and eventually produced two types of the petites, neutral petites and petites with high degrees of suppressiveness, both of which had lost all of the mitochondrial markers.
