| 内容記述 | 1. Theoretical aims : The structure of COMP has been assumed as follows : (1) [COMP wh-phrase-±WH] In a theory such as that of OB we postulate two positions in COMP, one that may be filled with a wh-phrase or other category that has been moved to COMP, and one that is ±WH, where -WH is spelled out as that for, and +WH is the element that appears in direct or indirect questions (whether). Since both positions cannot be lexically realized at the same time, at least in standard modern English, deletion of either element in COMP is stipulated in the stage of 1977 against double-filled COMP nodes, while in the OB framework special emphasis is directed to the wh-phvase- deletion up to recoverability, and in the GB framework the rule that expands COMP is accepted as optional. In this thesis, I posit a further step in which the receiving node is to be divided into two categories being marked as R, Q, respectively. Thus, avoiding the assumption that wh-movement is a rule of adjunction to the clause itself, we can naturally grasp the apparent violation of the principles of Pisa theory. 2. Analysis : Under the most recent framework of Generative Grammar, the "rumen" expansion of COMP is understood as a reflection of the established circuit NP-to-COMP at the level of Logical Form. (2) NP - COMP t - COMP 3. Result and Interpretation : This function of COMP-elongation defends the subjacency condition for movement to COMP that permits a unified theory of "islands phenomena" being subject to Local Control fulfilling the requirement of proper c-command. This study will encourage us to try to define the real properties of "L-containment" as a research program. | |||||||
