| 内容記述 | Translocation of indoleacetic acid-14C (IAA-14C) in intact rice plants was investigated in connection with the geotropic reaction accompanied with ail acceleration of internodal elongation and rooting activity. The small plants raised in a tiny clay pot each were used in the early stage of internodal elongation. During horizontal placement of the axes, the plants were allowed to absorb IAA-14C solution for 3 hours from the tip cut of the uppermost unfolded leaf. Radioactivities detected in ethanol extracts both of the samples just after termination of the source supply and of the samples remained horizontally for 3 hours more, and the amount of unmetabolized IAA-14C separated by chromatography from the extracts of middle portion of the stems in each sample were compared with those of the controls. 1) A comparison of radioactivities of the extracts showed that IAA-14C absorbed into the plant from the leaf was transported in both directions, basipetal and acropetal, after its arrival at the leaf node, and that the amount transported was remarkably small in old organs or in the portion of organs declined in growth function, such as most of the roots, basal portion of the stem, and the leaves bearing on basal and middle portions of the stem, in comparison with young leaves and middle to top portions of the stem. With the lapse of time, the acropetal transport had a tendency to dominate over the basipetal. 2) In rice plants horizontally placed, the amount of IAA-14C transported in a longitudinal direction per unit time seemed rather decreased, compared with that in the erect ones. 3) Amounts of unmetabolized IAA-l4C in upper and lower halves of middle portion of the stem horizontally placed showed the ratios of 40 : 60 at termination of the source supply and of 32 : 68, 3 hours later, while those of the stem vertically kept showed the ratio of 50 : 50, irrespective of the passage of time. 4) It was found that in 3 hours after termination of the source supply, horizontally placed stems had a tendency to somewhat exceed vertically kept stems in the average content of unmetabolized IAA-14C in the middle portion. These results seem to support the writer's previous postulation that vigorous activities in morphogenesis in middle portion of horizontally placed stems are due to the increase in amount of activated auxins through the direct stimulus of gravity. | |||||||
