内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The present experiments were conducted with the intention of investigating the causes underlying the early death of tillers developing in the ricenursery which always occurred after transplantation. The seedlings were raised under different growth conditions so as to make them differ in qualities from one another. They were transplanted in the rice-field under different kinds of growth conditions, such as the watering depth (2cm and 4cm), the planting depth (1cm and 2cm) and soil temperature (20°C and 33°C), and the life and death of tillers already developed in the rice-nursery were examined with the result of the following presumption. 1) Relation between the soil temperature and the rate of growth of tillers. The tillers still in the growth stage of dependent nutrition mostly die early from the damage through high temperature to which they are subjected after transplantation, whereas those already attained at the growth stage of independent nutrition, are rather stimulated to grow vigorously by the effect of high temperature after transplantation. On the other hand, under the condition of low temperature, either goes on growing. 2) Qualities of seedlings. Tillers developed in the nursery of the seedlings with low qualities already die before they are affected by soil temperature, owing to their inferiority in qualities. The relation between matters considered as indices of qualities of seedlings and the early death of nursery tillers is as follows. a) Ratio of dry matters: That tillers are apt to die early in the seedlings with a low ratio of dry matters. b) Ratio of the dry weight of the top to the plant height, and the rooting abilities of seedlings : It is generally admitted that the former indicates the degree of completion in the seedlings and is closely associated with the latter, but the present experiments shows the results that the relation between these two factors are only insignificant, namely, the rooting abilities are weak in the seedlings of F2 plot, and also that almost all of the tillers formed in the nursery die early in the seedlings of W2 plot, regardless their rooting abilities are comparatively strong. These evidences are considered to suggest that some specific factors in qualities else may exist in F2 and W2 seedlings. Details of the matter may be remained for the future investigation. 3) Deeply watering, deeply planting and a high soil temperature exert an influence increasingly upon the early death of tillers in the nursery.
