内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 In the last bulletin, the writer explained the regional structure of industries and change in Nara Prefecture as influenced by the overflow of the Hanshin Industrial Area in "Regional Structure of Industries in Nara Prefecture". How eight small-sized cities in Nara Prefecture functionally suffered a change under the influence of the Hanshin Metropolitan Area was disclosed in this paper. (1) So far there have been many studies on the regional structure of metropolitan areas, but researches on small-sized cities in the suburbs of a metropolitan area are rare. Taking up three papers which seem to be typical and examining them minutely, the points of the subjects have been clarified, that is, regional and functional change of the small-sized cities is a phenomenon which appears in the transforming process from the old regional system into the new one. The former has historically been formed around the small-sized cities and the latter is gradually shaped in the spread of suburbs of the Hanshin Metropolitan Area. (2) Analysis of industrial composition, manufacturing function, commercial function and urban centrality of eight cities shows that there is a considerable difference among their urban functions. Nara City which exceeds any of the seven cities of the prefecture in point of city scale, stands high in the tertial industrial population. This is due to the character of the central city of the prefectural administration and as a nation-wide sight-seeing city; "the basic activity" of commerce and manufacturing, however, is not adequate. This means a service function for the environs of a city. The shops per population are not sufficient in number, although the sales per shop are pretty high, and the industries are micellaneous ones which are necessary in a city. Tenri and Gojo cities are weak in urban centrality as they include a large rural part. Yamatotakada, Kashiwara, Sakurai and Gose cities are local centers which depend upon "the basic activity" of commerce and manufacturing. The seven cities excluding Gose City are under the powerful influence of the Hanshin Metropolitan Area. (3) Regional and functional cnange of the eight cities has been analyzed through daytime population movement, change of industrial composition (comparison between I960 and 1965), and regional change (change of the number of passengers by stations between 1955 and 1965). Cities which have conspicuously increased in population are Nara, Yamatotakada and Kashiwara cities. The population growth of Nara City is, for the most part, due to the influx of residents from the Hanshin Metropolitan Area, and coincides with the increment of the service population. In the case of Yamatotakada and Kashiwara cities, the population growth is based upon the increase of workers in manufacturing, as well as the new residents. Many new factories have been located since 1961 in Yamatokoriyama and Tenri cities, but these have not influenced an increase in population. (4) Yamatotakada City, one of the three cities which had shown the largest increase in population, was cited and analyzed in order to grasp an actual condition of the regional and functional change. Manufacturing is distinguished by the textile industry of "local resources type" and the commercial sphere extends to three cities, six towns and four villages around the city. But the number of factories and shops remain stationary. It has been brought to light through the analysis of the diversion of farming land and the regional increase of population that the increasing population since 1960 was due to the increment of new residents and industrial workers.
