| 内容記述 | Polarographic and spectrophotometric studies of benzoylacetone (BA) and benzoyl-trifluoroacetone (BFA) have been carried out in dimethylformamide (DMF) and in acetonitrile (CH3CN). In CH3CN, the UV spectrum of BFA with absorption maxima at 249mμ and 330 mμ resembled closely that of BA. These are assigned to the enol form of BFA with existing almost entirely as enol-IA (l-pheny1-3-hydroxy-4,4,4-trifluoro-butene-2-one-l). While, BFA hydrate (BFA.H20) showed a curve with a maximum at 249mμ with a side shoulder at 290mμ but it did not absorb at 330mμ. These are assigned to the hydrated keto form of BFA. In l0% water-CH3CN solution, the absorption maximum at 249mμ was increased at the expense of the absorption at 330mμ with time. In polarographic reduction, the first wave (-0.53V vs. Hg pool) of BFA in DMF was diffusion controlled and irreversible. The first wave of BFA.H20 (-1.08V vs. Hg pool) was reversible. Addition of water in DMF caused the second wave of BFA to increase in height, as the height of the first wave was decreased with time. The observed variations in polarographic behaviour prove the fact that the enol form of BFA is gradually converted to BFA.H20. It must be concluded that the first wave of BFA corresponds to the reduction of enol-IA. | |||||||||
