| 内容記述 | The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effects of verbal reward and punishment on response repetitions under Thorndikian 'spread of effect' experiment. Boys aged 15 to 19 years, were presented either one list of 25 two syllabled meaningless (abbreviated to N) or meaningful(M) Japanese kana to which S was required to guess with a number one through 10. Out of 25 stimuli, the 8th and 18th stimulus wards were nominated to Key Stimuli (KS), and the same list was repeatedly presented to S for five trials. N and M conditions were each divided into five subgroups depending upon whether E said "Right" for the guessed numbers to two KS irrespective of the response numbers (R group), "Wrong" for them (W group), "Right" to KS and "Wrong" to all the other stinuli(WRW group), "Wrong" to KS and "Right" to the others (RWR group), or said 'nothing' for all responses to all stimuli (Control group). These treatments were prearranged regardless of S's responses before the experiment began, but were unknown to S. Response Repetitions to KS: Per cent repetitions of responses to KS (Tables 1 and 2) were significantly higher in WRW group and R group than in Control group under N condition, but the differences among W group, RWR group and Control group were small. Almost similar results were obtained under M condition, but per cent repetitions in WRW group and R group were higher than those in WRW group under N condition. Mean response variabilities (Table 4) indicated similar trends to those of response repetitions, although the both measures were inversely correlated. The above results of R group and Wgroup were conformed to Duncan's findings (Duncan, 1950). 'Spread of Effect': Response repetitions around KS showed statistically significant aftergradient in WRW group (Tables 1 to 4), R group (Table 2) and W group (Table 3) under N condition, but no significant gradients were revealed under M condition. The results in WRW group were in accordance with many previous data, but the obtained 'spread of effect' phenomena in R and W groups seem to disagree with Duncan's experiment in which no gradient was found. These findimgs may be interpreted in line with the guessing sequence hypothesis. The discrepacey between Duncan's experimental procedure and ours were discussed. | |||||||
