The Belousov reaction is one of good visual aids in teaching chemical kinetics, because it can be visualized as a periodical change of colors of ferroin indicator corresponding to a redox reaction of Ce4+/Ce3+ and a reduction of BrO3- to Br- during slow oxidation ofmalonic acid. Using the Belousov reaction as a model reaction, we present a teaching plan and teaching materials on chemical kinetics for the students in high school and in the first year course of college. |
