| 内容記述 | Nowadays, the world heritages are well known to many people through mass media such as TV documentaries, articles in news papers or internet. However, the word of World Heritage Education is not notable as much as the world heritages themselves. This situation has caused significant issues: the registration of The World Heritage attracts a lot of tourists and drives them to visit such a place without regard for the delicate ecosystem: a large number of modern restaurants and souvenir shops for tourists have marred the beauty of the scenery in a historic town. My experience traveling such places in the world also taught that it is vital and urgent to educate people preventing heritages from being damaged. This article provides a series of the trial lesson which is focused on one of the world natural heritages called Shiretoko located in Eastern Hokkaido, Japan. Firstly, I would like to introduce some important elements why Shiretoko has been registered as a world natural heritage with my personal impression on visiting there. Secondly, the value of Shiretoko as an educational material is defined. Thirdly, the ideas of how to carry out the series of lesson are discussed. The attached lesson plan could help teachers to practice the lesson: this lesson plan originally titled ‘Let' s protect our treasures in the world -The World Heritage-', which is going to be published by National Federation of UNESCO Association in Japan in October, 2010. The attached teaching materials and pictures which could help students' understanding are also included at the end of this papers. | |||||||||
