[Purpose] The games situation of sports is, we think, one which shows highest "Spannung" (emotional tension) to the players, referees, and spectators. It has been believed that the games have contributed to buld up the good personarity and produce a desirble human-relation, but they involved the emotional crisis to resolve. We aims to make a psychological analysis of the volley-ball game situation with the emphasis on the differences between both sexes and between rankings of teams. [Method] In the Present investigation, a questionnaire made up of four parts was employed with all the volley-ball team member of the senior-high schools in Nara Prefecture, 225 boys and 317 girls. Part I, of the questionnaire dealt with the influence of the game upon the team members, Part II, with the determining factors of the influence, Part III, with the opponent team factor only, and Part IV, with the referee factor only. [Results] Main results obtained in this study are as follows ; (1) The influence of the game is generally positive as was expected, but there remains some negative influence such as having lost self-confidence in game situation, provoking antipathy against the opponent, etc. (2) Among the determining factors of the influence, the opponent team is the most powerful one in case of games played comfortably. But, in case of games played discomfortably, the referee is the most powerful. (3) As to the opponent team factor, teams with higher ranking are chosen or rejected most often. The main reason for choice is the morale with in the team, and that for rejection is the morale between teams. Significant difference in the reason are found between male and female members, and, also between ranking. (4) Referee's attitudes rather than referee techniques are the chief reason for the choice and rejection, especially among teams with lower ranking and among female members. |
