内容記述 The purpose of this investigation was to examine the effects of oral and audience reading and pictures on young children's comprehension for sentences of the picture book, The subjects were 72 five year-old children in kindergarten. They were assigned to one of the following four groups: ①audience reading-picture, ②audience reading-no picture, ③oral reading picture, ④oral reading-no picture. As a material a picture book titled "A black horse Bianky" was used, and the sentences of the book were read orally by experimenter and were recorded by a tape recorder. In the study trials each subject of the group ①was showed a picture book and listened to the audience reading of the sentences through the tape recorder. Each subject of the group ②was showed a book without picture and listened to the tape recorder. In the group ③, each subject was presented a picture book and read orally the sentences of each page by self. In the group ④, each subject was presented a book without picture and read orally the sentences of each page. After the study trials all the subjects were asked about the content of the book to test their sentence comprehension. The main findings were as follows: (1) The subjects who listened to the audience reading of the sentences got higher scores than the subjects who read orally the sentences by themselves. (2) The subjects who were showed the picture book got higher scores than the subjects who were presented the book without picture. These results suggested that the audience reading of the sentences and the pictures presented in the book provided much verbal and visual information and had more facilitaion effects on young children's comprehension for sentences or the story of the picture book,
