内容記述 | The present investigation was designed to test a prediction that the Ss with high sociometric status would be more empathic than those with low sociometric status. 66 kindergarten children of two classes were administered a sociometric testandwere then measuredby their empathic ability, In the sociometric test Ss were required to choose three best and three worst friends in their plays. In the assessment of empathy S was presented three colored-pictures and told a story composed of these pictures. Two sets of three pictures were constructed for each of the following emotional situations : angry, fear, happy, and sad. After the presentation of each story, E asked S to state how he felt about the emotional reaction of the central figure. The degree of empathy was scored 0, 1, 2 points based on Ss statements. 20 of 66 Ss were selected from the highest end of the distribution of the sociometric status scores (HS group) and 20 were selected, from the lowest end (LS group). The empathy scores of HS group were compared with those of LS group. The main results obtained were as follows : (1)The mean number of total empathy scores for HS group was significantly greater than that for LS group, which was in line with the present prediction. (2) The mean numbers of empathy scores for the angryand the fear situations were significantly higher for HS group than for LS group, but there was no significant group difference in case of the happy and sadsituations. (3) The rank correlation coefficient (rs) between sociometric status and empathy scores was statistically significant in one class but not in the other. | |||||
