| 内容記述 | Early childhood education and care (ECEC) has recently been a hot topic in OECD and economically advanced countries. New Zealand was one of the first nations to establish an integrated ECEC system, which is based on pseudo-vouchers. The integration process involved a neck-and-neck race between the neoliberal economic reformers who aim to create a competitive environment for ECEC providers, and the interested parties including parents who wish to ensure that all children have equal opportunity to receive high-quality ECEC. Bearing this in mind, this study describes New Zealand' s diverse but comprehensive ECEC system, tracks the progress of its 10-year strategic plan since 2002, and reports recent ECEC trends in New Zealand including the introduction of 20-hour free ECEC system for 3 and 4 year-olds. The study intends to provide a point of view from which to discuss Japan' s future ECEC system, which now faces a turning point. | |||||||||
